SALISBURY, N.C. ? A former soccer coach at Catawba College has been accused of sex crimes involving a child more than 20 years ago.
Ralph William Wager, 69, of Charlotte, faces charges of felony first-degree child sex offense, crimes against nature and indecent liberties with a child.
Rowan County sheriff?s deputies said the investigation began in May and the incidents allegedly occurred between 1987 and 1989.
Capt. John Sifford said the victim was younger than 10 at the time and had participated in a sports program at the college. Sifford says investigators don?t know yet if the incidents occurred on campus.
The school said it is cooperating with investigators. It was not clear if Wager has an attorney.
Wager also has been suspended from the North Carolina Youth Soccer Association.
