To celebrate Paris Fashion Week (February 28-March 7), Relaxnews presents a new feature, "In the mood of..." quizzing designers on their style secrets and sources of inspiration. Ahead of her March 6 Fall/Winter 2012 presentation, we enter into the world of French designer Agn?s b., who launched her own line and opened her first boutique in 1975. Here, the designer reveals that she would have liked to see a 20-year-old Brigitte Bardot on her runway.
Relaxnews: What in your opinion is the most essential accessory and why?
Agn?s b.: Lipstick, because a kiss without a mustache... (!)
R: Which item of clothing would you never allow into your wardrobe?
Ab: Anything from any other designer, because I have no desire for it, nor the time, and I love my own stuff.
R: Which famous person, dead, alive or from fiction, would you most like to feature on your runway?
Ab: Brigitte Bardot when she was 20 in ...And God Created Woman by Roger Vadim or Contempt by Jean-Luc Godard.
R: What career path would you have followed if you hadn't become a designer?
Ab: At age 15, I wanted to be a museum curator. But life had other plans for me...
R: Which song do you most associate with your Fall/Winter 2012 collection?
Ab: The album of Georges-Henri Guedj and Stabat Mater by Vivaldi, interpreted by David Daniels. Listen to it at http://youtu.be/-6IbPVA9Gtg.
R: Cast your mind back... what did you feel the very first time you set foot in Paris?
Ab: Aged 11 I was living in Versailles and something I remember making a big impression on me was taking the train to Paris and seeing the graffiti that covered the toilet walls at Invalides.
