Gov to welcome troops, talk education

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) ? Gov. Dannel Malloy and Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman are making several appearances across Connecticut to discuss proposals for education reforms and thank troops for their service to the nation.

Malloy and Wyman will thank more than 200 troops during a welcome home ceremony for the Connecticut Army and Air National Guard scheduled for Saturday morning in East Granby.

The governor will later discuss his proposals for education reforms at the 6th annual Childhood Conversation Conference in Windsor. His speech, scheduled for noon, will focus on his proposal to expand access to early childhood education across the state.

In the evening, Malloy and Wyman will also appear at the state's official Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans ceremony in Hartford to honor former soldiers and officers for their service.
