Former Hawkeye Ryan Bowen is NBA frequent-flier

MEMPHIS ? It was almost surprising Ryan Bowen even knew what city he was in on Saturday night.

The former Iowa Hawkeyes basketball player is an assistant coach for the NBA?s Denver Nuggets. On Wednesday, he was here in Memphis to scout the Grizzlies as they played Philadelphia. On Thursday, he was in Oklahoma City to scout Dallas as the Mavericks played the Thunder.

Denver Nuggets assistant coach Ryan Bowen (Cliff Jette/The Gazette-KCRG TV9)

On Friday, Bowen was with the Nuggets as they played at Dallas. And on Saturday, he was back in Memphis when Denver lost to the Grizzlies at FedEx Forum, 81-72.

When is this man at home in Denver? ?I wasn?t in December, not a whole lot,? he said.

The Nuggets played 10 of their 15 December games on the road, and 22 of their first 32 this season. January will be better.

Bowen spends more time on the road than the team, since he is one of three Nuggets coaches who rotate as advance scouts, watching the teams Denver will soon play.

?I?ll stay with the team 75 percent of the time,? he said. ?I think I?ve missed seven or eight of our games so far this year.?

When Bowen is with the Nuggets, he works with players before games, and before and after practices. Ninety minutes before the game here Saturday, Bowen was on the court throwing different kinds of passes to Denver players to set them up for pull-up jumpers. At 37, he still looked like a player himself.

Bowen played 507 NBA games spread over 10 seasons between 1999 and 2009, the first five of them with the Nuggets. Before that, he had a 120-game career that made him one of the most-beloved Iowa players in the minds of Hawkeye fans. He averaged 14.4 points and 8.7 rebounds in his senior season, 1997-98.

He is Iowa?s all-time career leader in steals, is fourth in blocked shots, and eighth in rebounds. He was a player who hustled, which had a lot to do with why he kept a playing job in the NBA for so long though he never averaged as much as five points per game in a season.

Andre Iguodala of the Nuggets slaps hands with Bowen before the Denver-Memphis Grizzlies game on Dec. 29, 2012. (Cliff Jette/The Gazette-KCRG TV9)

Bowen was in the middle of his second season as the video coordinator for Fran McCaffery?s Iowa program when the Nuggets offered him a job last December.

?I just think it was too good an opportunity to pass up,? he said, ?getting in the NBA and getting the chance to work on court with the guys. Being the video coordinator at Iowa, I wasn?t able (by NCAA rules) to work with the guys. I wanted to do that while I was still somewhat young, more of a hands-on approach working with them rather than from afar.

?I do enjoy it. It?s weird that three years ago I was here playing with these guys. A lot of times I wonder ?How in the world did I do this?? These guys are so good. You see how strong these guys are, how talented they are, yet not too long ago I was playing at this level.?

Yuvraj welcomes inclusion of young players in the national team ? Cricket News Update

Prolific India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has welcomed the inclusion of youngsters in the national T20 squad, saying the mix of youth and experience is very important in the shortest format of the game.

"New players are coming and the format is such that new players can perform well also," said the experienced left-hander while speaking to media reporters after India?s series-levelling 11-run victory over Pakistan in the second and final T20 International in Ahmedabad on Friday. "The inclusion of youngsters is very important in T20 cricket. The mix of youngsters and seniors is important," he added further.

The 31-year-old stylish Punjab cricketer was one of India?s standout players in the 11-run victory, playing a whirlwind knock of 72 runs, studded with seven sixes and four fours, to help the hosts?post a fightable total of 192 for 5. Yuvraj was well supported by skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni (33 off 23), as the duo went on to post 97 runs for the fourth wicket, from just 44 balls.

Replying to a query regarding his big-hitting batting style, Yuvraj said, "I am just trying to watch the ball because if you make plans early and the ball is not there to be hit, you get out."

The Chandigarh born cricketer, who was adjudged as the Man of the Match for his spectacular 72, agreed that the fast paced T20 format requires different mindset; however, he insisted that there was no substitute to good cricketing shots.

On his approach to the game, the veteran left-hander, who recovered from a painful blow to his foot at the start of his innings, said that his aim right from the first ball was to stay at the crease till the end.

"I just wanted to stay till the end. In the previous games, I just held up a bit and I just got the opportunity to bat in the seventh over, so I thought to get set and then try hitting...I thought it was important for me to bat till the last five overs."

Yuvraj, 31, also complemented the efforts of the Indian fielders saying, ?Because of our fielding, we won the game. Catches of Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were exceptional at pressure times."

After having squared the two-match T20 series against Pakistan one-all, MS Dhoni and Co will next take on the tourists in three One Day Internationals, starting in Chennai on December 30, 2012.

The PFA profile for Ashley Young has been updated for 2012-13 season say Digital Sports Group

(PRWEB UK) 29 December 2012

Digital Sports Group today announced that The PFA profile for the professional footballer Ashley Young has been been updated. The PFA player profiles provide a unique and unrivalled insight into a professional footballers career with full career stats, news biographies and features.
A gifted winger currently playing for Manchester United.

Usually deployed on the left flank, where he is able to best deploy his pace, trickery, crossing prowess and ability to cut inside and shoot from distance, he is also able to play on the other wing or in a more central role just off the striker.

Ashley started his career with his local club Watford, breaking into the first team at Vicarage Road in 2003 and playing a huge part in the Hornets? promotion to the top flight in 2006.

It took just six months in the top flight for Aston Villa to feel compelled to make Ashley their record signing in January 2007, and he enjoyed three and a half productive years at Villa Park before taking another step up by joining United in the summer of 2011.

Ashley was first choice on the left wing for most of his first season at Old Trafford and has firmly established himself as a regular for England, for whom he has now made 26 appearances since his debut in 2007, the most recent against Italy at Euro 2012.

Head of Operations at DSG, Matthew Tait had this to say ?Ashley Young is a fantastic player and we have been working hard to provide the most fantastic resource that is both enjoyable to use and useful. Working with the PFA provides unique biographical information and insights that can be found nowhere else online. We are proud of our partnership with the Professional Footballers Association and the unrivalled access this provides us to the players.?

DSG became the official digital partner of the Professional Footballers Association (PFA) earlier this year and have since launched a number of Player profile fan pages on social media site Facebook as well as providing official player pages on their football news site football.co.uk.

'Fiscal cliff': Finger-pointing furiously, Congress slouches toward deadline

Speaker Boehner, who called the House back into session Sunday evening, said Thursday it was up to the Senate to act, while majority leader Reid spoke on the Senate floor of a 'dysfunctional' GOP caucus.

By Gail Russell Chaddock,?Staff writer / December 27, 2012

House Minority Whip Rep. Steny Hoyer of Md. gestures during a news conference in Washington, Capitol Hill, Thursday, where he urged House Republicans to end the pro forma session and call the House back into legislative session to negotiate a solution to the fiscal cliff.

In a last bid to avert the "fiscal cliff," House Speaker John Boehner (R) of Ohio is calling the House back into session for votes on Sunday evening, but without a sign from either side of the aisle of a new offer that might make a breakthrough possible before the Jan. 1 deadline.

' + google_ads[0].line2 + '
' + google_ads[0].line3 + '

'; } else if (google_ads.length > 1) { ad_unit += ''; } } document.getElementById("ad_unit").innerHTML += ad_unit; google_adnum += google_ads.length; return; } var google_adnum = 0; google_ad_client = "pub-6743622525202572"; google_ad_output = 'js'; google_max_num_ads = '1'; google_feedback = "on"; google_ad_type = "text"; google_adtest = "on"; google_image_size = '230x105'; google_skip = '0'; // -->

Instead, the leadership of both houses of Congress engaged in a flurry of finger-pointing Thursday, with each saying the other was to blame for the likelihood of the deadline being missed to avoid the fiscal cliff of tax hikes and spending cuts.

It's all up to the Senate, Mr. Boehner told House Republicans in a conference call in the afternoon, in a reprise of his comments after failing to get necessary party support last week for his own "Plan B" fallback maneuver while negotiating with President Obama. The House acted back in August to stop all the tax-rate increases and replace mandated spending cuts, or the sequester, with "responsible spending cuts," he reiterated. "These bills await action by the Senate."

"Once this has occurred, the House will then consider whether to accept the bills as amended, or to send them back to the Senate with additional amendments," he added. "The House will take this action on whatever the Senate can pass ? but the Senate must act."

Meanwhile, Senate majority leader Harry Reid, who had called the Senate back into session on Thursday, blasted Boehner and a "dysfunctional Republican caucus" for the deadlock.

?It?s obvious what?s going on. He?s waiting until Jan. 3 to get reelected to speaker, because he has so many people over there that won?t follow what he wants,? he said in a floor speech opening the Senate.

The way to avert the fiscal cliff is for the House to pass a bill that extends the Bush tax cuts for all but those families earning more than $250,000 in income, he added. The bill passed the Senate last July with no Republican votes.

So, with just five days to go before some $600 billion in tax hikes and spending cuts take hold, congressional leaders are hunkering down in bargaining positions back to where they were before the August break. But at the same time, leaders on both sides of the aisle say that there is flexibility in the system to come to terms even after the Jan. 1 deadline expires.

One approach is for Congress to pass a stopgap measure akin to a ?continuing resolution,? which is used to continue spending at current levels until Congress can complete work on a new spending bill, said House minority whip Steny Hoyer (D) of Maryland, after a briefing with reporters on Thursday.

If Congress was close to a deal but ran out of time to draft the legislative language needed to implement it, a 10-day extension could avert the cliff, he said. If Boehner allowed a floor vote on extending all the Bush tax cuts except for those over $250,000, ?I think it would pass,? he said.

Another might be for President Obama to direct the Treasury to delay tax hikes unilaterally, until a deal is finalized, a strategy President George H.W. Bush used for a limited period of time when a tax deal with Congress appeared imminent.

On Wednesday, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner made a similar proposal when he told Congress that the nation would run up against its debt ceiling on Dec. 31, but that he would use ?exceptional measures? to avoid the US breaching its borrowing limits for at least another month.

?The message from Geithner is that the world is not going to end on New Year?s eve, that there?s some flexibility in the system,? says Ross Baker, a congressional expert at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N. J.

Zombies, Run! Turns Your Exercise Routine Into a Game, Is Half Off Right NowiOS/Android: Zombies, Run! is a mobile app that changes the way you jog or run. Instead of just tracking what you do, it pits you against a world of zombies in a fight to survive. Today it's on sale for $3.99, down from its normal price of $7.99.

We really liked Zombies, Run! when we gave it a spin earlier this year, and it's one of your favorite running apps. That said, the price point of $7.99 is a little high for some people, but $3.99 lessens the blow to your wallet. If you're looking for a fun way to get into running, walking, or jogging, Zombies, Run! certainly fits the bill.

MOSCOW (AP) ? A passenger airliner careered off the runway at Russia's third-busiest airport and partly onto a highway while landing on Saturday, broke into pieces and caught fire, killing at least four people.

Officials said there were eight people aboard the Tu-204 belonging to Russian airline Red Wings that was flying back from the Czech Republic without passengers to its home at Vnukovo Airport.

Emergency officials said in a televised news conference that four people were killed and another four severely injured when the plane rolled off the runway into a snowy field and partly onto an adjacent highway, then disintegrated. No collisions with vehicles on the major, multilane highway were reported.

The plane's cockpit area was sheared off from the fuselage and a large chunk gashed out near the tail.

The crash occurred amid light snow and winds gusting up to 15 meters a second (30 mph), but other details were not immediately known. A spokesman for Russia's top investigative agency, Vladimir Markin, said initial indications were that pilot error was the cause.

The state news agency RIA Novosti cited an unidentified official at the Russian Aviation Agency as saying another Red Wings Tu-204 had gone off the runway at the international airport in Novosibirsk in Siberia on Dec. 20. The agency said that incident, in which no one was injured, was due to the failure of the plane's engines to go into reverse upon landing and that its brake system malfunctioned.

On Friday, the Aviation Agency sent a directive to the Tupolev company's president calling for it to take urgent preventive measures.

Vnukovo airport spokeswoman Yelena Krylova said it had enough personnel and equipment to keep the runway fully functional Saturday. The airport resumed receiving planes after a break of several hours.

Prior to Saturday's crash, there had been no fatal accidents reported for Tu-204s, which entered commercial service in 1995. The plane is a twin-engine midrange jet with a capacity of about 210 passengers.

Vnukovo, on the southern outskirts of Moscow, is one of the Russian capital's three international airports.

Hubble eyes the needle galaxy: IC 2233, one of the flattest galaxies known

Dec. 28, 2012 ? Like finding a silver needle in the haystack of space, the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope has produced a beautiful image of the spiral galaxy IC 2233, one of the flattest galaxies known.

Typical spiral galaxies like the Milky Way are usually made up of three principal visible components: the disk where the spiral arms and most of the gas and dust is concentrated; the halo, a rough and sparse sphere around the disk that contains little gas, dust or star formation; and the central bulge at the heart of the disk, which is formed by a large concentration of ancient stars surrounding the Galactic Center.

However, IC 2233 is far from being typical. This object is a prime example of a super-thin galaxy, where the galaxy's diameter is at least ten times larger than the thickness. These galaxies consist of a simple disk of stars when seen edge on. This orientation makes them fascinating to study, giving another perspective on spiral galaxies. An important characteristic of this type of objects is that they have a low brightness and almost all of them have no bulge at all.

The bluish color that can be seen along the disk gives evidence of the spiral nature of the galaxy, indicating the presence of hot, luminous, young stars, born out of clouds of interstellar gas. In addition, unlike typical spirals, IC 2233 shows no well-defined dust lane. Only a few small patchy regions can be identified in the inner regions both above and below the galaxy's mid-plane.

Lying in the constellation of Lynx, IC 2233 is located about 40 million light-years away from Earth. This galaxy was discovered by British astronomer Isaac Roberts in 1894.

This image was taken with the Hubble's Advanced Camera for Surveys, combining visible and infrared exposures. The field of view in this image is approximately 3.4 by 3.4 arcminutes.

What Should Your Resolutions Be For 2013? ? Health Hub from ...

Do these women look familiar? It?s because each one is a Health Hub expert contributor. We reached out and asked them to share their resolutions for a healthier and happier new year. Remember, you can reach these goals with a little help from your friends: your family, doctors and healthcare professionals.

  • ross

    1. Schedule important health screenings

?It?s a great time to check in with all aspects of your health, and a good time to set some health-related goals. Come for your annual gyn exam, even though PAPs are no longer done every year. If you?re over 40, get an annual mammogram. Breast cancer is on the rise, and the earlier it is caught, the better the outcome. And get yourself some reliable contraception. Many forms of birth control have other benefits, too, like decreasing risks of anemia from heavy periods and protecting against?certain cancers.?

    Elisa Ross, MD

  • klein

    2. Share your family health history

?I recommend sharing family health histories. Diseases that run in the family can alert you to the need for increased screening, early detection and prevention. This can all lead to more graceful aging.?

    Charis Eng, MD, PhD

  • iannotti

    3. Start small to stay on track

?Start by making very small goals to be able to attain them, and then continue to set more goals. This keeps you on track and happy with your success. Otherwise you will end up setting one huge goal that is very hard to achieve and you give up on the resolution altogether. For example: resolve to drink more water. Or to find some way to exercise daily, like scheduling in a walk during lunch.?

    Laura Jeffers, MEd, RD, LD

  • falcone

    4. Be carb-smart

?Increase the amount of intact carbohydrates ? vegetables, beans, fruit, whole grains ? and decrease the amount of stripped (refined) carbohydrates ? white flour, sugar, corn starch and syrup, white rice.?

    Roxanne B. Sukol, MD

  • shepard

    5. Set one goal at a time

?Set a few?important goals for your health and begin one?at a time.?Say your goal is?to lower your blood pressure. Resolve to monitor your daily salt intake, keep your exercise activity constant and take your medications.?Once you?ve made?these changes a?part of your regular routine,?move on to the next one.?Make sure your?goals are measurable and attainable.?Goals which are too lofty can lead to setbacks, and often the towel is thrown in due to too much effort, rather than not enough.? At the end of the year, you?ll be able to look back and see how much you have accomplished, one goal at a time!?

    Karen Cooper, DO

  • fung

    6. Establish healthy relationships

?Establish a relationship with a primary care physician (pediatrics, internal medicine, family medicine) who can help you meet your health goals and prevent/delay disease. Talk to your family about their health and collect a family history to share with your primary care doctor.?

    Kathryn Teng, MD

  • Michael Roizen, MD

    7. Keep up with women?s health trends

?Stay abreast of women?s issues through social media. Sign up for women?s health-related e-newsletters, Facebook pages and Twitter feeds. They offer free health tips, healthy recipes and breaking women?s health information.?

    Holly L. Thacker, MD

  • Michael Roizen, MD

    8. Nourish your spirit

?This is the time of year when we all sit back and reflect upon the year passed and the potential of great things to come in the year ahead. In Eastern Medicine, there is a concept known as ?Shen? that can be loosely translated as ones ?spirit.? One way we can nourish Shen is to make a concerted effort to carve out time in our busy lives to reconnect with those we love, or even the activities and hobbies we once loved but somehow lost because life became too busy for us. Cooking with our kids; taking a hike in the park with our dogs; playing a game of cards with our parents; holding the hand of your loved one ? these are just a few simple ideas. As we move forward into 2013, creating opportunities to connect with people and activities will aid to nourish our Shen and bring just a little more joy into our lives.?

Ability to metabolize tamoxifen affects breast cancer outcomes ...

ROCHESTER, Minn. -- For nearly a decade, breast cancer researchers studying the hormone therapy tamoxifen have been divided as to whether genetic differences in a liver enzyme affect the drug's effectiveness and the likelihood breast cancer will recur. A new study by researchers from the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center and the Austrian Breast and Colorectal Cancer Study Group provides evidence that genetic differences in the enzyme CYP2D6 play a key role in how well tamoxifen works.

"Our findings confirm that, in early breast cancer treated with tamoxifen, genetic alterations in CYP2D6 lead to a higher likelihood of recurrence and death," says Mayo Clinic oncologist Matthew Goetz, M.D., lead author of the study in the journal Clinical Cancer Research.

In the clinical trial, Dr. Goetz and his colleagues studied the rates of cancer recurrence and death in two groups: postmenopausal women with primary estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer who received tamoxifen for five years and those who received tamoxifen for two years followed by the aromatase inhibitor anastrozole for three years. Anastrozole is a breast cancer drug whose metabolism does not require the CYP2D6 enzyme.

The study showed that women who were born with genetic alterations of CYP2D6 that abolish the enzyme's critical metabolizing activity and who took tamoxifen for five years had recurrence of breast cancer, or died at a rate 2.5 times higher than women with normal CYP2D6 enzyme activity. Women with intermediate levels of the CYP2D6 enzyme had rates of recurrence or death 1.7 times higher than women with normal CYP2D6 activity. Importantly, Dr. Goetz notes, that genetic alterations in CYP2D6 did not affect the likelihood of recurrence or death in women who switched to anastrozole after two years of tamoxifen.

"Switching from tamoxifen to an aromatase inhibitor may be one reason for the discrepant studies surrounding CYP2D6 and tamoxifen -- as information about whether a patient took an aromatase inhibitor after tamoxifen was not available in most of the prior studies," says senior author James Ingle, M.D., of Mayo Clinic, an expert on hormone therapies for breast cancer.

A blood test can determine whether a woman has alterations in CYP2D6 and predict how efficiently her body will convert tamoxifen to endoxifen. Approximately 5 to 7 percent of European and North American populations are considered poor metabolizers of tamoxifen.

"The results of this successful high-level international research collaboration are an important step forward in our quest to individualize breast cancer treatment and provide tailored care to women with breast cancer," says Michael Gnant, M.D., professor of surgery at the Medical University of Vienna and president of the Austrian study group.

So what should a woman do if she is unable to effectively metabolize tamoxifen into its most active form? Dr. Goetz believes that the current recommendation of switching from tamoxifen to an aromatase inhibitor is likely to result in the greatest benefit in women with decreased CYP2D6 metabolism. For CYP2D6 poor metabolizers, avoiding tamoxifen altogether and starting out with an aromatase inhibitor may be the best approach, he says.

Dr. Goetz's group is working with the National Cancer Institute to develop endoxifen as an alternative to tamoxifen. If women can be given endoxifen, the active part of tamoxifen, it won't matter how tamoxifen gets metabolized, he says.

It?s been a banner year for anniversary lovers. American Idol celebrated its 10th. YMAK that the text message turned 20. And snack aficionados are surely sad to bid farewell to the year that brought the 100th birthday of the Oreo. But the 2013 anniversaries are almost here, and the new ones are even better than a fresh pack of Double Stufs.

Next year will mark the 20th anniversary of ?Anniversary,? the R&B hit from Tony! Toni! Ton?! and the 50th of that ?late December back in ?63? from the wedding reception favorite ?Oh, What a Night.? Dan Brown?s The Da Vinci Code will be 10, and 100 years ago in Pittsburgh, the first modern drive-in gas station opened for business. Copy-starved editors will surely regale their readers with a host of stories marking these momentous events. Herewith, a handy, highly speculative guide to 2013?s anniversary coverage.

(A note on the selection process: 2013 marks the 50th anniversary of the JFK assassination and MLK?s ?I Have a Dream? speech, but articles on those events will be everywhere. We?ve chosen to focus on 10 slightly less momentous occasions that are likely to be commemorated in publications during the coming year.)

Syrian conflict threatens to fracture Iraq

Semi-autonomous Iraqi Kurdistan and the central Iraqi government are on a collision course as the Kurds increasingly side with the Syrian opposition and Baghdad stands by the Assad regime.?

The semi-autonomous Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in northern Iraq and the federal government in Baghdad have not seen eye to eye for years, and the gap between the two is now widening, particularly when it comes to foreign policy. That's been put in stark relief by the ongoing civil war in Syria, which has shifted the fortunes of Iraq's Kurds.?

A decade ago, Iraq was a Sunni Arab-dominated dictatorship that shared many problems with the Sunni Turks to the north. Both countries had restive ethnic-Kurdish separatist movements and uneasy relations with their Shiite and Persian neighbor, Iran.

Today, Iraq has a Shiite-dominated government that is close to Tehran, which is supporting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's regime in Syria's civil war. Turkey, still eager to prevent Kurdish separatist sentiments within its borders, now sees the Iraqi Kurds as a potential ally in opposition to the interests of Iran, Baghdad and Damascus.

The emerging sectarian alliances have prompted Baghdad and the KRG to throw themselves into opposing camps in the Syrian war, creating conflicting interests in the supposedly unified country.?

As regional and Western diplomats point fingers at Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki for aiding embattled Syrian President Bashar al-Assad ? a charge which Baghdad vehemently denies ? Iraqi Kurds are increasingly involved with the opposition, lured by the possibility that in a post-Assad Syria, Kurds there might achieve some degree of autonomy. That?would allow the KRG to expand its foothold.

The KRG has hosted leaders of the Syrian opposition in its regional capital, Erbil, much to Baghdad's dismay. It has also lent support to Kurds in northeastern Syria ??Barzani publicly admitted in July that his government is providing them with military training.?And now some of the Kurdish factions there are holding talks with the mostly Arab Syrian opposition to decide whether and how to join them in the fight against President Bashar al-Assad, even though the relationship between the two camps has been strained by several bouts of fighting.

"The Syria crisis is forcing everyone around Syria to choose sides," says Joost Hiltermann, who follows Iraq for the International Crisis Group (ICG). "Maliki is worried about the emergence of a post-Assad Sunni Islamist order in Syria... he finds that he has to support Assad by default. This puts him de facto in the Iranian camp and in conflict with Turkey."

Search Engine Optimization: Make Your Business Visible On The Web

Your website should be optimized to major search engine spiders? tastes. Search engine optimization helps ensure that when customers look for products your business offers, your website finds its way to the top of the search results list. If this sounds good to you, read on.

If you want your site to appear high in search engine results, be sure your title includes your keyword or phrase. To connect each page of your website, ensure that every one has the same title tag attached to it. To further tie everything together, place the name of your company right after the title tag link. People are not likely to search for your company?s name.

Keep the content of your website user-friendly. In order to climb up the page ranks, you need to include accessibility features and optimize your website for text-to-speech readers. Make sure that both search engines and human readers can find what they?re looking for.

Search engines will lower your rank if your page has duplicated content on it. If you are struggling to find something unique to write about, think about what might attract new readers to your site.

Search engines use bots which constantly search for new and updated content. Adding new content on a daily basis will invite these bots to take a look at your site. Furthermore, articles that are well-written are likely to be shared with others. The people who have linked to your content are likely to come back to read more, and their friends will come with them!

If you have a foreign language on your site, you will want to add the language meta tag to your html coding. Thsi can help boost your rankings specific to that language.

Your page ranks go up when visitors stay on your website for extended periods. Keeping people on your website is key in getting repeat visitors, so have great content worth sticking around for!

Using a pay-per-click method can be one of the most effective affiliate marketing program systems. This service is the most common, and the pay is fairly low, but it can build up quickly.

Any articles that you contribute should always contain backlinks that are associated to your website. This is particularly prudent if your website is targeted at ezines audiences. Fortunately, ezines are often archived so you can see the content years after they were first published.

Think about using relevant keywords. Learn which particular keywords should be utilized as you build your site?s content and titles. If you take the time to do research and pay attention to your page stats, you will better understand what types of content people are looking for. In order to appear more on quality search engines, be sure to use this knowledge you have obtained.

Including transcripts for any video content, or content with audio, is a great way to keep your content more accessible for customers and search engines. When you give a transcript, the search engine will find it as well.

Make sure to configure your hosting company?s server so that it?s case-sensitive for URLS. If not, then your entire site could end up respidered with lower case letters, splitting up your link juice.

In order to achieve enhanced search engine optimization, become a member of area business associations. Since these usually link to your site, it helps with local search results. Additionally, people place more faith into your website if your rating from the Better Business Bureau is good.

If you want to rank high in a search engine, do your part to help out web spiders. Spiders are going through your content on a constant basis and are always pulling up your site based on keywords and other particulars; however, these spiders have to understand how to actually navigate around your site. To help the spiders understand the hierarchy of your website?s pages, craft a site map highlighting the most important factors of your site.

There?s a lot to search engine optimization, but as was stated earlier in the article, it?s absolutely essential to make sure your website gets the business it deserves. Make sure to apply these techniques to your website, as soon as possible, so that you can start getting more customers and more profits.

Doing so doesn?t mean that I necessarily agree with every?or any?opinion in the posted article. ?And although we often post about disagreements, it is VERY important to understand that we agree and proudly support, more of the ideas of U.S. Leaders than disagreed. (it is just part of democracy, it gives balance and is vital)

Quote of the year:

"If you put the federal government in charge of the Sahara Desert, in five years there'd be a shortage of sand." - Milton Friedman
?

Word of the year:

"malapropism: the usually unintentionally humorous misuse of a word,"

Freedom isn't free, just ask any soldier.

From me to you - Thanks!

?

No I don't support the idea of never ending war in our world.

But I do have to support the people who have given me the right and freedom to complain about it.

?

Please support our veterans by doing anything you can to boost theirs spirits and hope.

I write a lot of this before I have my coffee.

Getting up every morning before 4am... the only thing that looks good is coffee.

?

I do not think President Obama regularly drank coffee we he was in senate,

?but he may want to try it on his new job.

?

WARNING: coffee is harmful to the environment, small woodland animals and people who like to maintain status quo
